Make Someone Smile Everyday

Life is great but there are many stressful situations we deal with daily.  Really big problems are in the newspaper headlines or on the Internet news sites.  Hopefully those are not affecting you but there maybe other issues (family, business, school, etc.), which are important to you and causing you some distress.  It’s hard not to let the world’s problems weight you down.  I noticed after the holidays it appeared some people were out of sorts, which is not that unusually because we are all pumped up for the holidays so when there over we crash mentally or emotionally.

This situation creates an opportunity for all of us, which has a simple easy solution.   Everybody has bad (down) days but what if you’re out and about and someone says something to make to smile.  It seems to immediately perk you up at least it does me.  I always appreciate a smile from someone unless it seems fake, like a “please join my cult smile” that kinda freaks me out.  It’s like they read a book “Smiling for Dummies” and therefore cult types smile 24/7 to influence others but they appear more like a creepy clown.   The truth is that with an authentic smile there is no underlying agenda.

Sorry I strayed off topic a little that happens to me sometimes.   Anyway my point is, what if everyday you made it part of your day to make someone smile and not reserve this for just family and friends, but try make a stranger smile as well.  It doesn’t take a lot of effort plus it’s a win –win scenario because it makes you smile as well.  If you can get them to chuckle a little, that’s a bonus.

Imagine what it would be like we all took a little more time throughout the day to smile and enjoy life.  Our stress level would decrease as it would for the others we come in contact with, so I’m going to try to make someone smile everyday.  You may ask how do you do that, well you know how you feel when you’re on a fun relaxing vacation.  It always seems easier to smile on vacation because we are in vacation mode.  So why can’t we take some of that vacation attitude and bring it to everyday life.  It seems more about adjusting your way of thinking than a physical location although I agree that sitting on a beach might make that process easier than when you’re shoveling 6 inches of snow but it still seems possible to bring some of that beach attitude to everyday life.

I know what your thinking, I’m retired so why wouldn’t I be smiling, well the truth is retired people have big stressful decisions to make as well.  Just this morning immediately after I awoke I had a big decision to make, What should I cook bacon or sausage?  A wrong decision could affect my whole day.  Are you smiling, yet?  See it works.  Try it…….What can it hurt?  “Just Saying…..”
