Please answer my survey. Everyone wants a 5 star survey. If everyone gets a 5 star survey then it means nothing. The pursuit to have you fill out a survey is relentless. If you ignore the request for a survey, you are constantly reminded that you still need to complete it.
The truth is that if I’ve received bad or unacceptable service, I’ll tell you. Also if I’ve received exemplary service, I will praise you, so stop bugging me. As a service company you need to assume that a lack of response means, you provided a service and I was satisfied with it. If I paid you that means you did your job, now it’s time to move on. Don’t expect to be stroked for everything you do.
I think all this need for receiving a 5 star survey started because everyone had to get a trophy. That was a terrible idea. It took the incentive away to work hard and do your best. All you had to do was show up and you would get a trophy. Everybody was a winner, when the fact is everybody is not a winner. The lesson we taught kids has made them needy.
These kids are now working adults and getting 5 star survey is what they expect for any service they provide. Anything less will have a negative effect on their job, promotions ad salary.
I know that some people look at survey results to determine what company to use for service which seems like a reasonable way to make a selection. But is it really if all companies are getting these padded survey results?
A survey is only necessary when the service is bad or exemplary, anything else is just what is expected. The bottom line is, you provided a service and I paid without a complaint, our relationship is over.
